<Project name>

"Building a Taxi Company Chosen by Students" Project!
~ Let's transform into a taxi company that can hire new graduates ~

<Purpose of the project>
Transform into a taxi company that hires university graduates.
In the long term, I would like to improve the image of taxi drivers and become a company that employees can be proud of.

Taxis are essentially professionals in charge of private transportation, and are an indispensable part of transportation in Japan.However, the image that taxi drivers have had so far is far from good.

In an industry where mid-career recruitment and employment of the elderly are commonplace, we decided that hiring new university graduates would be a catalyst for that, and launched this project.

The purpose of this project is to "create a foundation that allows new graduates to be hired" by pursuing the possibilities of the taxi industry and changing its image.

<Company Introduction: Heiwa Kotsu Co., Ltd.>

[Basic Philosophy] Love people, love the land, love the company

to love is to grow

Nurture loved ones with affection, remember to nurture beloved Sendai, and nurture a spirit of loyalty to the company

[Business description]

Founded as Hiyoshi Taxi in Showa 31, it is a long-established taxi company in its 64th year.

The capital series is the Hokkaido Koun Group in Sapporo, and has its head office in Sendai as one of 10 companies and 16 bases.

Despite being classified as a major company in Sendai city with 80 certified units, until a few years ago, sales per 1 unit have been No. 1 in Sendai city for about 180 months.

In recent years, due to the shortage of manpower in the taxi industry, many major taxis have been suspended,
Unfortunately, we are 4th place.Therefore, in order to regain the 1st place, various efforts such as peace club (like a fan club), professional basketball 89ERS taxi, sightseeing taxi, etc. are underway.

In addition, we have been focusing on hiring female drivers for some time, and the number of female drivers counts 11.

 So far this year, 4 female drivers have been born, 2 of whom are young at the ages of 27 and 21 respectively.We are striving to create an environment that is easy for women to work in by installing new fixtures for the women's rest room, which has been there before, and increasing the number of women's toilets.

Heiwa Kotsu supports 89ERS, a professional basketball team in Sendai, as an official sponsor.I hope that the local sports teams will become stronger and Sendai will become even more energetic.1 Heiwa Kotsu taxi runs around the city with the 89ERS mascot character "Tina" wrapped in yellow, so please look for it.

Now, you may be wondering what the "Peace Club" is. Heiwa Club is an organization of "customers" who choose Heiwa Kotsu among many taxi companies. To put it another way, it's like a "fan club" and currently has more than 2,000 members, who use it almost every day.

Taking advantage of the characteristics of running around the city, we are also focusing on contributing to the local community, and as a company that protects elementary school children from crime, we have partnered with 10 local elementary schools for "SOS Crime Prevention Taxi".Specifically, when a child encounters a suspicious person and wants to ask for help, if they raise their hand in a taxi, they will be protected inside the car, contact the school or the police, and then sent to their home or school free of charge.
In addition, we also visit elementary schools with some schools to hold "traffic safety classes."

We have a good relationship between management and employees.
For example, twice a year, we have a "○○ party" where the manager cooks and serves the driver.Day shift workers have lunch and night shift workers have dinner to deepen ties between drivers and managers. "○○" changes each time, and until now it has been yakiniku, Genghis Khan, Sendai imoni, rice balls, somen, yakisoba, curry rice, and so on.One of Heiwa Kotsu's prides is that the distance between the driver and the manager is close, making it easy to work.

Taxis are classified as a passenger transportation business, but Heiwa Kotsu is proud to operate as a service business.
For that reason, once every two to three months, we hold a one-hour training session for all drivers to improve their skills.
As a result, many taxis, including those of other companies, are lined up at the dedicated night taxi stand on Jozenji-dori, but most of the Heiwa Kotsu taxis are selected by customers. We have boarded from the middle of the line.

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of jobs related to sightseeing in the city, and we are holding tourism study sessions for drivers to further improve their skills.We will continue to improve our skills with the aim of becoming a company that is chosen by customers and applicants.

In this way, we are a forward-looking company that has been making various efforts while looking at the future of the taxi industry.

<Interview with President Suwabe> *The president is in charge of the interns <Expectations for the interns>

Until a few years ago, the operating rate of the taxis we owned was almost
It was 100%, but since then, due to labor shortages, etc., it has become normal for the operating rate to fall below 90%.Even if you have a car, you cannot move it without a driver.
We believe that the lack of drivers is largely due to the lack of attraction among job seekers in the taxi industry.
In that case, I would like to hire good human resources and create an attractive company.With that in mind, I turned to hiring new graduates.
If there are no people in the taxi, the productivity will be "zero".Even with the advent of the era of automated driving, which is becoming a reality, we believe that it is up to people, in other words drivers, to provide hospitality.And if you are not satisfied with yourself, you cannot satisfy others.

Heiwa Kotsu's "Heiwa Kotsu Driver First Principle" first satisfies the driver, and we want to build a win-win relationship that raises the customer's satisfaction with that satisfied "mind".To that end, I believe that we must take on the challenge of various changes together with the younger generation.
New graduate drivers have no experience in Sendai.There are many things that are difficult at the very beginning, but that's what makes it so rewarding.We have already hired about 1,200 new graduates in Tokyo, so I believe we can do it here in Sendai.By all means, let's take on the challenge of building a "foundation" for the transformation of the taxi industry in the local metropolis "Sendai" together.

<Expectations for interns>
We are planning to attend conferences, visit schools, and attend company information sessions to express various opinions from a student's point of view toward hiring new graduates, analyze the current situation, gather information, and formulate necessary initiatives.In addition, you will be responsible for the production of the portal site as a creation.Recruitment of new graduates is the ultimate goal, so I would like you to work with the following figures as goals.

● Reference: Kokusai Automobile Co., Ltd.'s new graduate recruitment ●
Kokusai Automobile is one of the largest companies in Japan, and has been recruiting new graduates for the past five years.
Among the Hokkaido Koun Group (HK Group), which Heiwa Kotsu belongs to, two companies based in Tokyo have a business tie-up with Kokusai Motors Co., Ltd. for dispatch systems.As a result, Heiwa Kotsu also receives a variety of information on international automobiles.

In the taxi industry, where it is said to be difficult to hire new graduates, we will examine how Kokusai Automobile gained the support of many students and use it as a reference for project execution.
=Example of adoption efforts by Kokusai Automobile=

<Message from the president (person in charge of accepting interns)>

<Message from the president (person in charge of accepting interns)>
Japan is experiencing a labor shortage due to its declining birthrate and aging population.Especially in regional cities, where the population is beginning to decline, it is becoming extremely difficult to secure a labor force.Newspapers and other sources have reported that even Sendai City, which is called a regional metropolis, will experience a gradual population decline from 2020.

Moreover, the taxi industry is a typical labor-intensive industry, so there are concerns that the situation is even more serious.The government implemented a policy to make up for the labor shortage with foreign workers, but unfortunately taxis are not included in the relevant industry, and the difficult situation continues as before.

Recently, the development of automated driving using AI is progressing rapidly, and it is easy to predict the arrival of "the day when taxis without a driver drive around the city" in the future.On the other hand, for taxi drivers who have an aspect as a service industry, it is judged that the presence of drivers who can provide customers with heartfelt services that AI cannot do is extremely important.This is one of the reasons why we want good drivers.

The declining birthrate and aging population are not all bad things.There is also the business opportunity of increasing the number of taxi users.The increase in the elderly who do not have a means of transportation is expected to increase the demand for hospitality services along with the demand for door-to-door movement.
At the moment, it seems that the taxi industry is the closest thing that can be handled by public transportation.It is essential to secure good quality drivers who can respond to these.

In my opinion, recruiting new graduates in the taxi industry is a thorny road.The general public image of taxi drivers is not good.I think there are many people who have an image that they have no choice of occupation, and they have an image that they have become a taxi driver in the end.From the perspective of parents, there are high barriers such as not being able to get a job after graduating four years from university, worrying about traffic accidents, and being alone with a customer in the car.I'm sure university officials will think the exact same thing.Fortunately, our company has a track record of hiring more than 4 new graduates, and you can refer to them while learning the know-how of Kokusai Motors.There may be big differences between Tokyo and Sendai, but I believe that the recruitment methods, environment creation, and recruitment activities of this successful company will be of great help in formulating our new graduate recruitment plan.

Pursuing how to change the negative image, we will join together to challenge the historic feat that will save Sendai's taxi industry with excitement toward the first "new graduate taxi driver birth" in Sendai. Why not?
We are looking for energetic people who can think freely.

Heiwa Kotsu Co., Ltd.
President Toshio Suwabe

<From the coordinator in charge>

<From the coordinator in charge>
This project is the first time that a company that has never hired new university graduates will start hiring university graduates.In terms of the industry, a small number of companies in Tokyo are hiring university graduates, but Tohoku still has a long way to go, making this a very challenging project.

I try things that I don't know if it's possible unless I try.

I am looking forward to the rare experience of working as a team with the president, as well as the sales manager, section manager, drivers, and other employees involved in recruitment.All of them are very kind and communicative.

We are hiring college graduates and looking for friends who will work together to create a company that leads the industry.
We would like to invite those who have the spirit to update the taxi industry.

If you want self-innovation and self-growth, there is only action.
Be brave and take the first step.
